Winners of the Food Sovereignty Prize

Agricultural Missions, as one of the founding members of the US Food Sovereignty Alliance (USFSA), is excited to forward the announcement of this year´s co-winners of the Food Sovereignty Prize, including our good friends and allies at Community to Community Development, (C2C), a farmworker-led organization on the forefront of struggles for dignity for

all.  We proudly support their efforts to organize farm workers in Washington State, including indigenous farmworkers forming their own union, and their connecting labor rights with the fight for humane immigration reform, without expanding harmful guest worker programs.

Likewise, we heartily support the affirmation of the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) of Palestine, at this heartbreaking time for the Palestinian people.  As you read more about the prize winners below, you will understand the importance of raising up these heroes of struggle, while Big Ag honors people associated with technological and profit making endeavors from the corporate-controlled world of agriculture that is neither sustainable nor provides healthy food for humanity.  So on October 15 and 16, think of these winners and what they mean in contrast to the corporate dominated model of Big Ag.  And if you can, plan to attend the Food Sovereignty Prize ceremony in Des Moines, Iowa on October 15th and the protest against Big Ag´s World Food Prize on the 16th.
